Left atrial appendage closings using ICE imaging
Boston Scientific’s Watchman device is a procedure that closes the left atrial appendage with the guidance of an intracardiac echo – ICE. This technology enables invasive cardiac surgery without the need for general anesthesia, thus reducing its associated complications. The procedure was recently performed at a number of Israeli hospitals with the guidance of Prof. Ole De Backer, an interventional cardiologist from Denmark. Medtechnica’s staff undergoes routine training by the manufacturer to support and assist in a variety of complex activities for the medical staff, including this one.
